Weird shopping moment

(a rare and elusive photo of the boy named Drew)

Today I went shopping for jeans with my boyfriend. He is on a super strict budget so we looked in all of the chain stores first and couldn’t find anything that didn’t look like spray on boy leggings. After frustration and some smarties, we went and had a look in a kind of new-ish store, General Pants Co. Its awesome. So are the people that work there.

Drew ended up buying a pair of Cheap Monday $90 jeans. I’m pretty sure, but not certain, that I made an awkward man-moment between Drew and the assistant (who, by the way, had an awesome fahion sense and a cool tattoo) when we were deciding what size was best. I asked the guy who was helping us which pair he think looked better and fitted better. He kind of looked at me funny while Drew glanced at me with the ‘George, stop talking’ face. Then I realised that, by asking that, he had to check out Drew’s legs. Then, to make it worse, I commented “Oh no, is that an awkward question to ask a guy? You don’t have to answer, these ones are obviously better, its cool”. I laughed and he laughed and it was all ok.

Was that awkward or just completely normal?

Why am I still thinking about it?

How weird.

Do it

'be true to who you are'
You have to be. Its one of lifes rules that I try to live by as much as I possibly can. There is no point trying to be someone else, trying to be happy when you are having a crap day (and then feeling worse when you see someone who is insanely trying to be happy... its just weird) or just trying to fit in somewhere because you feel like you have to. If youre not true to yourself, then its kind of like lying to everyone else.
Just be at peace within your mind and accept your own faults or whatever you feel guilty or bad about. If you feel that strongly, change it where possbile.
Even when I knew it wasnt going to be the best out come for me personally, I told my friend that he had to be true to himself and his emotions. There is no point hiding how you feel on the inside, people can tell if youre not being sincere. Its better to be true to your own feelings then to try and be someone that youre not.
Brains dont work that way. They will know youre lying, and so will others.

Just a) Be yourself
and b) Stay true to who you are

and thats the meaning of life. End.

Birdy Bird-sta

Today I encountered a lady with bright red hair (the colour that people who consider themselves arty seem to fancy) on most of her head. I say 'most of' because the fringe part was platinum blonde. I am sorry to say that I immediately judged her. She was smack bang put in my category of "women who have bad hair to make them look younger and coloured plastic glasses because they think they are trendy". I was right about the plastic glasses part. They were red frames with green arms and little rhinestones in the corner. I immediately presumed that she was single, reads romance novels (and cries whilst reading them) and that her computer/ phone background was either a photo of a cute animal or inspirational quote.

This category-putting-into-upon-meeting got me thinking. Actually, it got me paranoid for a good hour and a half. What category do people put me in? Am I stuffed straight into the 'ordinary' box? I thought about this for ages and then started analysing what I wear and how it isnt synonymous with how I act and think. I wear quite boring everyday clothes. But I dont think I think in a boring manner. Do people think Im boring and (shock horror) ordinary?! Can you see how the paranoia started?

I wish I could conclude this post with an inspirational ‘don’t worry about what other people think’ quote, but I can’t. I always think about what other people think. That’s probably one of the main reasons I am studying psychology (bleh... trust me, I am craving creativity). I guess all in all, only you would know what kind of a person you really are and if people box you into a category, you can always surprise them and force them to change their thoughts or perceptions of you.

Still be you though! If you are the single, cat loving, coloured glasses wearing women and you are happy and comfortable with it... rock that look!
I guess, I can conclude with a still positive (but not sickly motivational), rock your original look and own it baby!

Happy as a Bird with a French Fry

Do these photos make you as happy as they make me?
Its funny how just looking at photos of people you dont know can make you smile. You never really know if its staged and the people have never met before or if they are really in love.
Who cares though? It still makes me grin like an idiot.

Miss Dior

Today I was lucky enough to find this super cute blog that posts super cute collages of super cute images. When I first read the word ‘collages’, I think of old ladies with cats printed on their jumpers, surrounded by scrap-booking supplies, don’t you? Well this is different.

***
;

These collages are more like... a collaboration of everything that is cool and interesting. Also posted are photos of models, places, clothes and pretty much just anything that a girl like me would find fascinating.
I suggest you take a look because it is marvellous. It will inspire you to the nth degree. I can almost guarantee it. I say almost because everyone is different and some people might actually like having cats on their jumper and scrapbooking.
So, if you’re not a fan of fleece jumpers and matching trackies, then go have a look!

I Like Your Attitude

Is this right? Adelaide finally has something amazing.
I picked up a copy of Attitude from Gloablize the other day and expected it to be filled with crap-o advertisments for dodgy shops and generally just be quite lame. I was pleasantly surprised. This magazine is divine. Last months issue was filled with vintage shopping hot spots, snaps of Adeladies young fashionable people and general info on everything cool. Like models. And a bizzare photo shoot. And information on new shops/ brands popping up around the great ol' SA.
I decided to take this magazines vintage shopping wisdom and see if they were the real deal on a lovely Saturday with a friend. They are. All of the shops that I went to are fab. Especially Nadias House of Serindipity. The lady there was lovely too. Got myself a beautiful vintage floral maxi dress for $20.
Trust me, go out and find yourself one of these FREE magazines (no excuses poor uni students). You will be doing yourself a favour.

Im not sure if they have a website but here is a link to their facebook
